There were several snorkeling sites we wanted to hit on our last day and one of them we had to be there during high tide, as during low tide it's to shallow to snorkel. We got up early to head out. It's not easy to sleep in here as our neighbors at the hotel love to slam the door everytime they leave. Then the maintenance guy decided to paint outside our window while I was making breakfast--good thing we were already. I guess 8 am is a good time for hotel maintenance to do things outside people's windows!
As we head down the coast, we saw some emus by the road but I didn't have my camera on and as we got closer they ran away. Glenn keep telling me to have my camera ready at all times!!
We first stopped at Oyster Stacks. I decided to sit it out as it was very rocky to get into the water. I watched 2 American girls struggle to get out of the rocky water onto the rocky terrain and decided some sun would be fine. Glenn went out and said it was great snorkeling.
After spending an hour here, we head to South Mandu, which we were told had good snorkeling. We walked out to the beach and there was only one guy there--long beautiful beach all to ourselves! We spent the rest of the day here. The water wasn't too cold so I went snorkeling without my wetsuit. Glenn wasn't that brave. I saw more humpback whales out past the reef break while I was sitting on the beach. The day couldn't have been better--we love it here!
The internet is being wonky here again so I am not able to upload the underwater pictures Glenn posted and pictures of the gorgeous beach. We are about to head to the airport to go to Perth then take our redeye to Cairns. Once in Cairns, I will try to post just pics from South Mandu.
